Referral Program Terms

1. Program Overview

The WeedBates "Invite & Earn" Referral Program ("Program") allows users to earn promotional wallet credits by referring new users to our platform. These terms supplement our main Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

By participating in the Program, you agree to these Referral Program Terms.

2. Eligibility

To participate in the Program, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old (or 21 in certain jurisdictions)
• Have an active WeedBates account in good standing
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
• Not be located in a jurisdiction where cannabis is illegal
• Not have violated our Terms of Service or engaged in fraudulent activity

3. How the Program Works

3.1 Referral Code & Link

Each eligible user receives a unique referral code (e.g., "JOHN-A1B2C3") and referral link that can be shared with friends, family, or on social media.

3.2 Attribution

When someone clicks your referral link or manually enters your referral code during signup, they become your "referee." We track this attribution using cookies and query parameters.

3.3 Earning Credits

You earn $1.00 in wallet credit when your referee:

• Creates a new WeedBates account
• Completes their first DC (medical cannabis) card purchase of $15.00 or more
• Payment is successfully processed (not refunded or disputed)

3.4 Payout Timing

Credits are typically awarded within 24-48 hours after the referee's successful purchase. Payouts may be delayed for fraud review.

4. Wallet Credits - Important Clarifications

Permitted Uses: Credits can be applied toward future DC card purchases, renewals, or other eligible WeedBates services (where applicable).

5. Restrictions & Prohibited Conduct

5.1 Self-Referrals Prohibited

You cannot refer yourself. Creating multiple accounts to earn referral bonuses is strictly prohibited and will result in account termination and forfeiture of all credits.

5.2 Fraud Detection

We employ automated fraud detection systems. Prohibited activities include:

• Creating fake accounts or using bots to generate referrals
• Referring the same person multiple times using different emails
• Using temporary or disposable email addresses to create referee accounts
• Coordinating with others to artificially inflate referral counts
• Misrepresenting the Program or making false claims to referees
• Spamming or unsolicited mass marketing (email, SMS, social media)

5.3 One Payout Per Referee

You earn credit only on your referee's first DC card purchase. Subsequent purchases or renewals by the same referee do not generate additional referral credits (unless we explicitly announce a recurring bonus program).

5.4 Minimum Transaction Amount

The referee's first purchase must be at least $15.00 for you to earn credit. Purchases below this threshold do not qualify.

5.5 Geographic Restrictions

Both you and your referee must be located in jurisdictions where cannabis is legal and where WeedBates operates.

6. Credit Expiration & Forfeiture

• Expiration: Credits may expire if unused for 24 months (we will provide notice before expiration)
• Account Closure: If you close your account, unused credits are forfeited
• Violation of Terms: Credits earned through fraud or violations will be revoked
• Refunds: If a referee's purchase is refunded or charged back, the corresponding credit will be deducted from your wallet

7. Program Modifications & Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Modify referral credit amounts, eligibility requirements, or Program rules at any time
• Suspend or terminate the Program with or without notice
• Deny participation or revoke credits for any user, at our discretion
• Introduce promotional periods with different bonus amounts

Changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance.

8. Tax Implications

You are responsible for any tax obligations related to referral credits. In some jurisdictions, promotional credits may be considered taxable income. Consult a tax professional if you have questions.

If you earn significant credits (e.g., over $600/year), we may be required to issue a 1099 form or equivalent tax document.

9. Not an Employment or Partnership Relationship

Participation in the Program does not create an employment, contractor, agency, or partnership relationship between you and WeedBates / PatientEA. You are not authorized to make commitments on behalf of our company.

10. Compliance with Advertising Laws

If you promote your referral link on social media, blogs, or other public platforms, you must:

• Disclose that you receive a benefit for referrals (e.g., "#ad" or "I earn credits for referrals")
• Comply with FTC guidelines on endorsements and testimonials
• Not make false or misleading claims about WeedBates services
• Comply with platform-specific rules (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook ad policies)

11. Privacy & Data Sharing

When you refer someone:

• You see: Anonymized referral counts and total earnings (e.g., "5 referrals, $5.00 earned")
• You do NOT see: Referee names, emails, purchase details, or personal information
• Referees see: Notification that they were referred by a WeedBates user (your name may be displayed if you used a public referral link)

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WEEDBATES / PATIENTEA IS NOT LIABLE FOR:

• Lost referral credits due to technical errors or system outages
• Disputes between you and your referees
• Third-party actions that prevent credit attribution (e.g., ad blockers, cookie deletion)
• Changes to the Program that reduce or eliminate credits

Our total liability related to the Program shall not exceed the amount of credits in your wallet.

13. Dispute Resolution

Disputes related to the Program are subject to the arbitration and dispute resolution provisions in our main Terms of Service.
